City league

The municipality of Dordrecht in the Netherlands has contact with the namesake in South Africa since many years. In 2002 Dordrecht South Africa became part of a new municipality called Emalahleni. After some fact finding missions the councils of both municipalities agreed to create an official city league. This was end of 2005.
The Netherlands
Beginning of 2005 the Foundation Dordrecht South Holland –Dordrecht South Africa legally started. Its aim is, in addition to the city league, to organize private support and exchanges. Since March 2006 the Foundation has a coordinator available to help implement its activities.
The aims of the foundation
The foundation wants to contact inhabitants and private organisations from Dordrecht NL and Dordrecht SA / Emalahleni. By initiating exchanges and supporting projects the foundation does not only give support but also works on sharing vice versa Dutch and South African ways of life and values.
